Laundry rooms flood fast
Two culprits cause most washer floods: a burst supply hose and a drain that backs up mid-cycle. Supply hoses fail with age — rubber ones especially. When one lets go, it runs at full pressure until someone shuts off the water.
Shut off the valves behind the washer first. Then call (301) 679-9193. We extract the water, pull the washer out to dry behind it, and check the wall and floor with moisture meters.
What gets damaged
Water runs under the washer, into the wall behind it, and across the floor into hallways. Drywall wicks it upward. If the laundry is upstairs, water finds the ceiling below. We trace all of it — not just the puddle you can see.
After cleanup, replace rubber supply hoses with braided steel ones. It is a cheap fix that prevents the most common washer flood.
